THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently inviting qualified candidates who are interested in performing a variety of corporate tasks and providing supervision to the Corporate team to join our Edmonton office. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, well-developed interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a positive and professional attitude.

Hours of work are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Monthly Nuans Invoice and submit same to accounting for payment
  • Primary Liason with lawyers in firm regarding requests for Corporate Department procedural changes and communicating with Corporate Department Head Supervisor (PHN)
  • Primary Liason with Alberta Registries in terms of advising of the Accredited Service Providers
  • Coordinate group meetings to assess work loads
  • Research various Federal, Provincial and other Corporation’s type branches in order to maintain corporate resource material up to date.
  • All miscellaneous contacts in terms of coordinating or various requests from lawyers, staff or clients.

Corporate Work Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delegating incoming tasks and work schedule
  • Provide guidance and training to Corporate Department staff and other members of the firm where required
  • Generally overseeing all aspects of running the corporate department
  • Responding to daily inquiries from lawyers, legal assistants, and clients
  • Attend to Ogilvie LLP’s Alberta Registries and Law Society Permit Renewals
  • Work with HR in completing team member reviews
  • Other duties as assigned
  • When time permits, assisting with all levels of work including but not limited to:
    • Share sale transactions
    • Transmission/Transfer transaction
    • Revival transactions
    • Director/Officer changes
    • Repurchase transaction
    • Redemption transactions
    • Bonus/dividend transaction
    • Minute book reconstructions
    • Partnership Act transactions
    • Re-organizations
    • Amalgamations
    • Incorporations
    • Mergers and acquisitions
    • Extra provincial registrations
    • CORES level 1, 2, and 3 registrations

TECHNICAL ASSETS

  • Must have working knowledge in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams
  • Experience in a corporate database system (ALF Cloud preferred)
  • ACUMIN knowledge an asset
  • Net Documents knowledge an asset
  • Adobe knowledge an asset

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of corporate legal experience is preferred
  • Highly proficient in CORES level 1, 2, and 3 Work
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience
  • Be a graduate of an accredited legal assistant program
