ABOUT OGILVIE LLP

Ogilvie was built in 1920 on a tradition of building relationships and working alongside our clients, and that is still our philosophy a century later. Located in downtown Edmonton, we are leaders in Corporate & Commercial, Real Estate, Litigation, Insolvency, Wills & Estates and Administrative Law.

Ogilvie is a full-service firm with a reputation built on ingenuity, leadership and client relationships. The members of our team represent a broad range of educational and professional backgrounds, giving us the ability to have specialized and knowledgeable teams in each of the areas we practice. Additionally, our commitment to investing in the community where we work is vital. Our partners and associates are active in a wide range of national, regional and local professional organizations and charity-related bodies.

Ogilvie is considered a mid-sized firm, and this size allows us to focus on our clients’ unique needs and circumstances. It also gives us the ability to really know our customer base; we are Albertans working for the people of Western Canada, and we have an intimate understanding of their needs and circumstances. By working with our diverse team, you will also have a chance to learn from many different perspectives and points of view alongside highly skilled professionals.

THE OPPORTUNITY

At Ogilvie, we can appreciate the challenges and stress that students face when choosing a firm to article. Perhaps the best way to get a better idea of what our firm has to offer is to talk to someone with first-hand experience of our articling program. Please feel free to contact any of our current articling students, and they would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about articling at Ogilvie.

We offer the opportunity to work with senior lawyers and partners who are committed to mentorship and professional growth within a positive work environment.

HIRE-BACK RATIOS

At Ogilvie, it is our genuine wish to see all students succeed in their professional journey. When we hire articling students, we do so with the intention of providing them with the guidance and experience necessary to thrive, and with the hope that they will continue with us as associate lawyers, contributing to the growth and success of our firm. In recent years, most articling students have been offered an associate position with the firm.
