James Ogilvie, the firm's founder, was known for his contributions within the legal profession. However, his tradition of excellence could not be contained and he believed that if you were going to work in a community, then you must also work for the community.

James and his partners encouraged a tradition of community service that is still very much a part of Ogilvie LLP today. He served the Freemasons' Patricia Lodge, the United Church and the Edmonton Lodge. Ogilvie lawyers and staff continue to follow in the tradition of volunteer services including participation in charitable organizations for the underprivileged, health & education programs, conservation and environmental groups, sports, culture and the arts. Corporate giving reflects the genuine concerns of the people that make up OGILVIE LLP who continue to support the community in which they live.
