Ogilvie LLP Barristers & Solicitors

OUR FIRM

A Tradition of Service

James Harwood Ogilvie, Q.C., the founder of the firm, believed that if you were going to work in a community, you must also work for that community. By the very nature of their calling, lawyers have special obligations as good citizens and community leaders. He and the partners thereafter encouraged a tradition of community service that is still very much a part of Ogilvie LLP today.

In continuing with that tradition, the members of Ogilvie LLP actively participate in and contribute to a variety of charitable organizations, health and education programs, sports associations, cultural activities and the arts. Our lawyers have served as members of Boards of Directors for non-profit charitable organizations and foundations and assumed leadership roles in community associations and projects.

The Ogilvie Fund

As a significant part of the 75th anniversary celebration of the founding of Ogilvie LLP, the firm's lawyers and staff proudly established the Ogilvie Fund, which is administered by the Edmonton Community Foundation. The initial objective was met and exceeded through contributions from present and former partners, associates and staff of the firm.

Each year the firm makes a contribution to the growth of the Fund, which enables us to provide much-needed funds to charitable organizations on an ongoing basis. The primary focus of the annual distribution of the income is on assisting the underprivileged in our community. A committee comprised of lawyers and staff of Ogilvie LLP meet regularly to provide advice in the distribution of the annual income.
