The partners of Ogilvie LLP extend their congratulations to Barbara K. Komisar on her appointment as Queen's Counsel in recognition of her contributions to both the legal profession and the community.
In announcing the appointment, Alberta's Deputy Premier and Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Ron Stevens, noted that "this designation recognizes outstanding professionalism and tremendous work in a lawyer's public life. It's a longstanding tradition and a prestigious symbol of respect in the legal community".
Barb Komisar has been a member of Ogilvie LLP since she was called to the Alberta Bar in 1989. She practices primarily in the area of corporate commercial law, with a focus on commercial real estate, commercial lending, business sales and acquisitions, and corporate reorganizations. She has also contributed considerable time to a number of charitable organizations, the University of Alberta, and to the legal profession.
